Les 5ème Top English nous expliquent aujourd’hui la fête de Thanksgiving.


What is Thanskgiving ?

Thanskgiving is a feast. The Americans and the Canadians celebrate it.
During Thanskgiving, they eat turkey, potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.
This feast is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

The Origins

The Pilgrims lived in the North of America. They didn’t like their religion so they decided to leave England in order to find a better life. There ship was called the
MAYFLOWER. This trip was very long and very difficult. When they arrived, it was winter so it was very cold. They didn’t have any food.
Some people came to help them with plants, vegetables, clothes... These people were the Indians of America.

The first Thanskgiving

The Pilgrims decided to celebrate and organize a feast to thank the Native Americans for their help. They ate turkey, potatoes with cranberry sauce…
